New year’s brunch

J and I were both off work for the holiday today, so we had some friends over for brunch. I’ve been wanting to make Bloody Marys since I spotted low-sodium organic tomato juice at Trader Joe’s, so we kicked off with those. The recipe was a combination of the Luxury Bloody Mary mix from Sips & Apps (a lovely gift from earlier this year from the same friends) and this recipe. I wanted New Glarus Naked as our beer chaser but couldn’t find any, so I went with Spotted Cow instead. J can’t stand tomato juice, so he had (lots of absurdly big) Mimosas.

Brunch was simple diner-style grub: New Century Farm eggs (over medium), bacon and sausage links from Jordandal Farms, and sweet potatoes with onions (fried in bacon grease). Good food and great company … no better way to ring in the new year!
