Ale Asylum brewery tour

Tonight J and I took the Ale Asylum tour for the first time with some friends. The rest of the tour group was mostly obnoxious drunkards who were on their umpteenth brewery tour of the day. (Bad Wisconsinites, giving the rest of us beer lovers a bad name.) Despite our companions, the tour was fascinating and informative. The most interesting bit was that, apparently like many small breweries, their bottler (pictured below) is a re-purposed piece of ancient equipment that used to bottle Coca-Cola many decades ago. It cost them a pretty penny nonetheless, but was significantly cheaper then buying a new one, which was essential when they were starting out. Now that they’ve been a huge success, they’re building a big new facility, which was why we wanted to make the trip to see the old place. Well, that and they had J’s favorite Sticky McDoogle Scotch Ale on tap. (Check out one review of this beer here.)
